Recognition honors long-term environmental leadership, commitment to Scope 1 & 2 carbon neutrality by 2035, and launch of solar power initiative.
MARSHFIELD, Wis. – August 28, 2026 | Nelson-Jameson has announced that it was named the winner of this year’s prestigious Sustainable Stewardship Award, presented by the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association (WCMA).
The award, which is part of the 2026 WCMA Member Impact Awards, celebrates Nelson-Jameson’s outstanding contributions to the dairy processing industry and its years of leadership in stewardship and sustainability. By continually keeping a comprehensive vision of sustainability at the forefront of its business strategy, Nelson-Jameson has solidified its role as a champion of dairy sustainability.
“Celebrated for years of leadership in environmental stewardship and sustainability, Nelson-Jameson continues to keep the environment at the forefront of its business strategy. Committed to Scope 1 & 2 carbon neutrality by 2035, they are launching their first-ever solar power project at their Jerome, Idaho, distribution center, which is projected to offset 3,115.5 metric tons of CO2 emissions over its lifetime,” WCMA said in its announcement of the Sustainable Stewardship Award. “Additionally, over the course of 2025, they recovered hundreds of tons of waste and greatly reduced their paper and lighting energy usage. Nelson-Jameson is also a participant in the U.S. Dairy Sustainability Alliance and has aligned its work with the UN Global Compact and Sustainable Development Goals.”
The WCMA Member Impact Awards celebrate the outstanding contributions of WCMA members who go above and beyond in leadership, sustainability, innovation, advocacy, and workplace culture. These annual awards honor the individuals and organizations making a meaningful difference in the dairy processing industry. WCMA will host its Annual Member Meeting and Awards Ceremony on Sept. 23 in Madison, Wisconsin, to celebrate the 2026 honorees.
Nelson-Jameson also recently announced that it earned a Silver Medal from EcoVadis – a recognition awarded to the Top 15% of companies assessed over 12 months. The EcoVadis award reflects the quality of Nelson-Jameson’s sustainability management system and demonstrates its commitment to promoting transparency. Nelson-Jameson had earned consecutive Bronze Medals in the previous two years.
