Nelson-Jameson has announced the beginning of an annual graduate fund in partnership with Cornell University through the Nelson-Jameson Foundation. The Nelson-Jameson Annual Graduate Food Safety Fund will provide an annual gift of $10,000 over the next five years, for a total gift of $50,000.
The fund will provide financial assistance to graduate students enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Cornell University. Preference will be given to students in the graduate field of Food Science and Technology with a concentration in food safety or food microbiology.
“Food safety is a top priority at Nelson-Jameson, and this fund was created to support students on their path to joining us in helping protect our food supply,” said Amanda Nelson Sasse, President of the Nelson-Jameson Foundation. “Nelson-Jameson is committed to supporting future industry leaders, and we can’t wait to watch each recipient at Cornell continue their educational journeys and pursue their dreams inside and outside of the classroom.”
Nelson-Jameson has a long-standing commitment to helping promote food safety, and this fund will support the future leaders of crucial food safety initiatives.
“The strong reputation of our Cornell food science department in microbial food safety research is largely due to the hard work and ingenuity of our graduate students. Nelson-Jameson’s generous support will help us recruit and train the next generation of graduate students to make an impact in food safety while at Cornell, and also in their future careers,” said Dr. Gavin Sacks, Department Chair of Food Science, Cornell University's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
The Nelson-Jameson Foundation is focused on supporting students and philanthropic organizations in the food processing, food safety, and dairy industries, as well as other charities that are important to the Nelson-Jameson team and community.
