MARSHFIELD, WI – June 4, 2024 | Nelson-Jameson, a leading food processing distributor with roots in dairy production supplies, participated in Marshfield, Wisconsin’s 42nd annual Dairyfest, a two-day community event that honors the dairy and agriculture industries. The celebration is scheduled each year to coincide with June’s National Dairy Month, an annual observance that raises awareness about the nutritional value of dairy foods and pays tribute to dairy farmers.
Nelson-Jameson’s participation in Dairyfest took place in Marshfield on May 31 and June 1. The company’s involvement included a sponsored float in the Dairyfest parade, populated with Nelson-Jameson employees and their families; sponsorship of a Dairyfest ceramic mug; and volunteer participation at the kick-off Dairyfest breakfast, complete with Nelson-Jameson executives cooking breakfast for attendees and participants.
“Nelson-Jameson’s roots are in dairy, and we’re proud to honor the farmers, cheesemakers, food producers, distributors, employees, advocates, and consumers who keep the dairy industry strong and thriving,” says Mike Rindy, President of Nelson-Jameson. “Participation in Dairyfest is one of many ways we celebrate the community of Marshfield locally and the entire dairy industry nationally.”
National Dairy Month was founded in 1937 as “National Milk Month,” and expanded to include recognition of all dairy in 1939. Since then, National Dairy Month has been observed every June, shining a spotlight on the people who make up dairy communities, and providing educational content about dairy’s place in a balanced diet. Dairy consumption in the U.S. hit a record high in 2021 at 661 pounds of dairy per capita. The International Dairy Foods Association reports that in 2023, the dairy industry was responsible for 3.2 million American jobs.
“Dairy is not only one of America’s favorite food groups, its production is a cornerstone of our economy,” says Rindy. “While Nelson-Jameson celebrates the dairy industry year-round, we’re delighted to see it get special focus through Dairyfest and National Dairy Month each year.”
